The Cold War was very dangerous time in American history. Because both The United States and The Soviet Union were advancing in technology. They were both two of the most powerful nations. And if they were to have a physical war they could wipe of the face of the Earth.
The United States was afraid that we would be impacted on the spread of Communism. And the Soviet Union was afraid that they would be impacted on the spread Capatilism. They both knew that either way they were going to both be affected if they had a war that involded physical fighting.

The Cold War can be said to have begun in 1917, with the emergence in Russia of a revolutionary Bolshevik regime devoted to spreading communism throughout the industrialized world. For Vladimir Lenin, the leader of that revolution, such gains were imperative. As he wrote in his August 1918 Open Letter to the American Workers,"We are now, as it were, in a besieged fortress, waiting for the other detachments of the world socialist revolution to come to our relief."

Western governments generally understood communism to be an international movement whose adherents foreswore all national allegiance in favor of transnational communism, but in practice received their orders from and were loyal to Moscow. In 1918, the United States joined briefly and unenthusiastically in an unsuccessful Allied attempt to topple the revolutionary Soviet regime. Suspicion and hostility thus characterized relations between the Soviets and the West long before the Second World War made them reluctant allies in the struggle against Nazi Germany.

In 1918, the United States joined not happily in an unsuccessful Allied attempt to topple the revolutionary Soviet regime. Suspicion and hostility thus characterized relations between the Soviets and the West long before the Second World War made them reluctant allies in the struggle against Nazi Germany. they were creating bombs that could wipe us all out

the cold war was a very dangerous time in american history for many reason.some was because it could potientally wipe out the whole world.both the soviet union and united states were extremely powerful and highly skilled.they were both highly advanced technology wise.
the united states was afriad of the spread of communism so they tried to stop the spread of communism.where it was seen as they was trying to get rid of communism to be able to enforce capitalism.soviet union did not agree with the ideas of capitalism .they also potenilly knew that either them or the united states would be affected by this .

To understand why the cold War era was such a dangerous time for both sides, one has to look back to its causes. "The Cold War was a struggle between conflicting universal values. In the West, the concepts of a market economy and a multi-party democracy were cherished as necessity. In the East, single party statism and a command administrative economy were highly valued" ("Yalta" n. pag.). This struggle was reflected by "indirect military conflict, and direct competition in the arenas of military and nuclear supremacy, economics, diplomacy, culture, sports, space exploration, and political theory" ("Fact Sheet" n. pag.). Historians today see the Yalta Conference as the starting point of the Cold War.
