The ten years between 1919 and 1929 took Europeans and Americans on a social and economic roller-coaster ride. With the end of World War I in 1918, people abandoned their cautious attitudes caused by the uncertainty of war and embraced the freedom and joyousness of peace.Social programs including housing and soldier farm settlement schemes were initiated by governments in a stop-start manner. Many thousands of other ex-soldiers faced permanent disability and degeneration as a result of war injuries, and the great influenza epidemic of 1919-1920 had capped off the massive wartime casualties with thousands more deaths.

The Age of Uncertainty was after world war 1. A reason why they called it the age of uncertanity is because Albert Einstein and Sigmund Freud. They left a big impact on society. They where two people who thought every diffrently and came up with new ideas that were against previous beliefs. Einstein challenged previous scientific theories and Freud came up with new ideas in psychology.
